ASUS ZENBOOK PRO DUO.. MY NEW FAVOURITE LAPTOP!!
The laptop market has seen a lot of innovation in recent years and Asus has done an amazing job with the Zenbook Pro Duo. Asus has provided us with a laptop with two displays one 4k OLED touch screen display and a secondary 4K IPS panel which is also a touch screen above the keyboard, creating a multi-tasking monster.
Earlier I was also very skeptical about the overall performance, but now I am extremely satisfied. The RTX 2060 graphics card, with an i7 and i9 option processor, and a very fast SSD. But there are some cons also like short battery life, mushy keyboard, and thick body. It mainly focuses on content creators, but gamers also have an eye on this laptop due to its multitasking ability.
Price and availability:
The fully specced out model for $2999, this includes an overclockable 2.4GHz Intel Core i9-9980HK processor with 32GB RAM, 1TB PCi's SSD, an Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU with 6GB of VRAM. The $2,499 base model has a 2.6-GHz Intel Core i7-9750H CPU with 16GB of RAM. There is also a $2499 model with an intel i7-9750H CPU, 16GB RAM, the graphics card remain the same across all the models.
DESIGN:
Asus has done an amazing job with the design of the laptop by creating a sturdy aluminum laptop chaise along with Celestial Blue as its color. After opening the lid due to Asus's ergo lift mechanism the laptop's keyboard comes up a little bit to make typing a little bit easier with the touchpad on the right (beside the keyboard), the touchpad also resides the number pad. Above the keyboard resides the secondary 4K touchscreen display. It is a beautiful matt display paired with a 4K OLED main display.
The port selection is also good. On the right, you get a USB Type-A 3.1 Gen 2, Thunderbolt 3 port, and an audio jack. On the left, A USB Type-A port, HDMI 2.0 port, and a DC in-port.
DISPLAYS:
There are two displays on the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo. The main display is a 15.6 inch 4K OLED glossy display with a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels along with touch. The main display is one of the most color-accurate displays I have ever seen. The secondary display called the Screenpad is not as vibrant as the main display since it is not an OLED panel, but it still has a 4K resolution of 3840x1100 pixels.
But this secondary display has some of its own problems as well as when watching a YouTube video on the secondary display there are black bars both on the left and the right side of the video. Also in direct sunlight, there is a little difficulty in the visibility of the secondary display.
But the main display which is an OLED display creates beautiful colors creating deep blacks. But, since the display is glossy the light reflects from the display if you are sitting directly under the light.
SCREENPAD USABILITY:
Some may question that is the secondary display even usable?
According to my speculations, the screenpad can be used for various things for the person that is intended to use it like a gamer would play their game on the main display and could put the mini-map on the secondary display or even a Twitch/Mixer/YouTube stream, whereas a content creator can customize their editing software to make editing easier for them to edit their videos.
KEYBOARD AND TOUCHPAD:
The keyboard is chicklet style and has far more travel than the MacBook Pro, but still, since the keyboard has been pushed down and has no wrist rest this makes it difficult to type on the lap. If you type on a table along with the wrist rest it is a more pleasant experience even without the wrist rest if you are typing on the table. The touchpad took some time for me personally to get used to, but if you are a left-handed person you probably have to use a mouse along with the laptop.
CONCLUSION:
Finally concluding my review, I would say that even though this laptop has some cons, but in terms of performance it can handle anything you throw at it. The keyboard and the touchpad may take some time to get used to. But in the end, I believe this laptop is totally worth it and worth the buy.
THANK YOU
